Food is my favorite subject to work with. It never complains and is almost always patient. It doesn’t mind if I squirt it with ice water or run a butane torch over it. I can poke and prod to my hearts delight, it does not complain. I have lived in Connecticut, New York City, Wisconsin, Seattle, and now Kansas City. Some- times I miss the ocean so much that my heart breaks. I love taking pictures. I love my husband and my children, but I also love taking pictures. I would like to thank Jim, Max, and Claire for knowing to never eat the prettiest food in the refrigerator.

Illustrations ~ Marcia Fagelson

Marcia Fagelson is a retired teacher who lives in Vermont and Tennessee with her husband, David, a retired physician. When she was 33, she made collages from objects collected during their travels.  Forty years later, she became interested in learning how Maisie Crowther created watercolor paintings and asked her for instruction.  Today, her daughter Susan, the author of this book, has given Marcia a reason and the motivation to continue drawing and painting, which she now does with water-soluble colored pencils.
